Just when I thought I was done with the Carousel collection I put it out into the world to get some feedback and I made some big changes. I feel like this collection is way more complete. If you want to see how the pattern collection looked before, you can visit the original Carousel Collection blog post.
Small Improvements Can Make a Big Impact
The main issue I was trying to work out was that it just seemed a little too busy. I really didn’t leave any space for your eyes to rest in the original collection. I dove back into the design files and got to work. I realized that I still had so many more ideas to try. In the end I feel like this collection is more solid and actually a little prettier. So here is what has changed.
1. The fringe pattern is gone. While I really loved this pattern, it stood out too much in the collection to me. So i kept the colors and replaced it with this leafy vine that feels more cohesive to the collection.
2. The Fleur De Lis pattern has a few less elements. It’s still similar to the original just added some more breathing room.
3. The biggest change was the Diamonds and Flourishes pattern. It has completely changed. Yes, those are the same motifs as in the original. I love this new one so much more.
The other changes weren’t as dramatic, in a couple of the color ways I updated some of the blender patterns. Like this charcoal and cream is now pink and charcoal and it fits in with the collection a little better. The Checker patterns all had the outlines removed. It is a subtle change that has a big impact.
So here it is, the new and improved Carousel Collection. I thought about replacing the original blog post but I thought it would be cooler to give you a glimpse into what I started with and ended with after some feedback.
